Hello everybody!
How was your week off? Did you get to visit the Feria grounds? Did you dare to dance some "sevillanas"? I hope you had a fantastic week, whether you traveled abroad or stayed in the city!
Hola a todos!
¿Cómo fue la semana libre? ¿Visitásteis la Feria? ¿Bailásteis alguna "sevillana"? ¡Espero que hayáis tenido una fantástica semana hayáis estado aquí o viajando fuera!
Here are some important reminders:
Academics:
- Re-entry workshop: Wednesday, April 24th at 5:00 PM at CEA Global Campus.
- Most of you might have dealt with some culture shock coming to Seville, but what about going back home? While you may think that it will be easy to re-acclimate, you would be surprised. Some of if not all of you will go through reverse culture shock, and many past study abroad students find it more difficult than actually going abroad. This workshop will explain the process and provide tips on how to deal with academic and social/cultural shock.
Housing:
- Wednesday May, 1st is a public holiday and there will be no cleaning services, we will contact the students affected by this by email to rearrange it.

Soup Kitchen: On a Sunday TBD you can go to the soup kitchen, prepare food, and then serve it to those who are less fortunate.
Food drive: please bring in a non-perishable food item CEA and the student committee will organize it and bring it to the soup kitchen or ONG organization. You have until 2 weeks before the last day of the semester (Friday, may 3rd) to turn in non-perishable food items so the student committee can donate it.
Clothes drive: At the end of the semester when you're packing to go home, I bet you will notice that you have accumulated a lot of clothes you don't want anymore, books you won't bring back, etc. If you want to donate them instead of throwing them away, bring them to CEA and together with the student committee and ONG organazations we can donate them to people in need.
Into the culture...
Tapas bar recommendation: CONTENEDOR
Location: Calle San Luis, 50
Description: The menu changes daily based on what the chefs find in the local markets... aka, fresh food!
Spanish recipe of the day: Pasta con chorizo y salsa de tomate
Ingredients:
•1/4 cup Spanish virgin olive oil
•1 medium-size yellow onion
•2 cloves garlic
•1 Spanish chorizo sausage
•1/2 red bell pepper
•1 tsp Spanish smoked paprika
•1 24 oz can crushed tomatoes
•1/2 lb. dry penne, macaroni or spaghetti noodles
Preparation:
This pasta in chorizo and tomato sauce recipe makes 4 servings.
Peel and chop the onion into 1/4-inch chunks. Peel and chop garlic. Remove the seeds and veins from the pepper and chop. Cut chorizo into round slices about 1/4-inch thick.
Pour about half of the olive oil into a large frying pan and heat on medium. Once hot enough, sauté the chorizo slices, pepper, onion and garlic in the pan. Stir often. If necessary, add more olive oil to pan.
Once the onions are translucent, add the can of crushed tomatoes. Sprinkle in the paprika. Stir and cook on medium-low for 10 minutes, careful not to burn the sauce.
While the sauce is simmering, bring water to a rolling boil for pasta in a large pot. Add pasta and cook until al dente – about 10 minutes. Drain pasta.
To serve, add pasta to frying pan and mix together with sauce. If you prefer, plate the pasta, then add sauce on top.
That´s all folks,
Have a lovely start to your the week :)
