Here are some important reminders:
Academics:
- Career development workshop is on Tuesday, March 19th and Wednesday March 20th at 5:00 PM. It will last about 1 hour. -- The sign-up survey for this has been sent out to your emails. Please respond TODAY. If you did not receive an email with a link to the survey, please let the Academic Advisor know.
- Interested in learning about toreros and bull fights before you see one? The Sport and Culture class has a guest speaker, a Bullfighter, coming to teach them all about bullfights, what to expect, and how it works. The professor has kindly extended the invitation to all of you! You are welcome to join in on the class and learn about bullfights before you see one yourself the following week. Monday, April 1st at 5:00 PM at CEA! Please come!
Housing:
- Please remember that there won´t be cleaning service during Semana Santa (Holy Week)
- Cooking class: today Monday, March 18th is the last cooking class. Do not miss it, it is good fun! We will meet at CEA Global Campus at 6:30 p.m.
- Spring festivities is almost here! Tomorrow, Tuesday, March 19th we will have a guided tour about the Holy week where you will visit churches and the path the processions take, and after that we will have a party at CEA with a Spanish guitar player and a flamenco teacher who will teach us the basics steps to the sevillanas dance which you can practice once the Feria is here!!! and of course we will also enjoy some snacks!!!
- The Semana Santa portion of the program starts at 6:00 PM here at CEA and the Feria part will begin at 8:00 PM (also at CEA). You can invite your intercambios to this activity!!!
- Sign up for immersion activities: The survey to sign up for the remaining cultural immersion activities has been sent out! You can use this form to sign up for the Spring Party, Bullfight, and Farewell Reception. Please do so ASAP!
- The Banco de alimentos (Food bank) de Sevilla will be doing a food drive, operación kilo, at a local shopping center on April 6th. They are looking for volunteers to help with the effort. Volunteers commit to an AM (10-14) or PM (15-18 or 18-22) shift to work reception point, puntos de recogido, at the local shopping center to pass out bags and receive donations. This is a great way to help out those in need while you are here in Sevilla, and to practice your Spanish. If you are interested, please sign-up by Tuesday AM. Interested people will receive further information about times, vocabulary, etc.

Tapas bar recommendation: La Estraza
Location: Calle Feria, 96
Description: this is a nice place with cool music (basically rock and roll) and really interesting dishes check it out!
Spanish Recipe of the day: Pulpo a la gallega Ingredients for 8 persons
- 1 frozen octopus, thawed
- 2 potatoes
- 1 onion
- 2 cloves
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 tbsp virgin olive oil
- 1-2 tbsp paprika
- sea salt
- Heat a large saucepan of salted water until boiling. Add the whole octopus, onion -studded with the cloves- and bay. Bring back to the boil and leave to simmer on a medium heat for 45 minutes until tender but still firm. Remove from the pan and leave to cool on a plate.
- Heat a saucepan of salted water until boiling. Peel the potatoes and slice them in 1 cm slices. Add to the saucepan and boil until quite tender. Transfer to a strainer and let dry.
- Remove and reserve the head from the octopus. Slice the tentacles into 2 cm slices.
